This made me emotional! Mums are amazing. You are amazing. Steaks, sunshine, ice cold beers - and telling ourselves better stories - are amazing! Thank you 🙏
honestly I love that last sentence. if you have something of value, you should write keep writing as long as possible. but if nothing of value, appreciate you "shutting up" 😂
Along with "The Feeling Good Handbook," David Burns also wrote "When Panic Attacks."
That one's more focused on anxiety, panic attacks, etc., and was incredibly helpful in that regard for me around a decade ago.
Near the end of that book, there's an astonishingly useful set of 40 distinct techniques through which we can argue against the negative voices in our heads, no matter if we're facing anxiety, depression, and/or any other mental health challenges. Even if we're inclined to disbelieve 38 or 39 of those, there's likely at least one or two that will get through!
Was looking for a summary of those techniques online, and found this PDF summary, with 50 (rather than 40) techniques listed.
(I don't recall offhand how these might compare with the techniques Burns mentioned in that book - my paperback copy is stashed away somewhere - but it's possible there's at least some overlap?)
